Susan Hazlewood has been an avid quilter and fiber artist since 2003. Prior to that, she has expressed her love of design and color in home decorating, stained glass art and flower arranging. Prior to teaching quilting classes at HDLC, Susan assisted quilters in fabric choices working at a local quilting shop. She thinks it is important to learn the proper techniques and use quality fabrics to create quilts that will last a lifetime. She also encourages her students to transfer their quilting skills to create beautiful wall hangings for their homes or offices.
Currently, her favorite creations are wall hangings of free form designs and stylized landscapes from fabrics with varying textures, then adding other fibers and objects such as beads and buttons to embellish the piece. She loves sharing her ideas and mentoring other quilters.
